Canada's New Rules Regarding Foreign Work Permits
In order to match the demand for international work permits and visas in the labor market, Canada is currently changing its immigration regulations. The nation intends to deal with the rise of international students and workers in Canada.
By November 1, 2024, the Immigration Levels Plan for the following three years will be made public by the IRCC. The Plan will contain new laws and regulations to control the rise of immigration in Canada.
Significant alterations to Canada's overseas labor and visa policies
A significant modification made by the IRCC is the addition of a language proficiency prerequisite for Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) programs. Applicants who submit their applications after November 1, 2024, must show that they have at least CLB 7 or above in language proficiency.
To be qualified, college graduates must have a minimum language level of CLB 5. These adjustments are meant to guarantee that candidates are well qualified to eventually earn permanent residence in Canada.
The IRCC has recently announced adjustments to Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) qualifying requirements. Starting in 2025, SOWPs will be awarded to spouses of highly trained, specialized workers, including engineers, executives, lawyers, scientists, and employees in sectors of the economy that are experiencing severe labor shortages.
