Canada's employment boom

As of October 2024, annual employment increased by 303,000, or a 1.5% rise, according to latest Stat Can figures. Following a 47,000 gain in September 2024, employment increased by 15,000 in October alone.

With 99,000 new hires in August and September, Canada's private sector employment rate increased by 0.7%. In Canada, around 4.2% of the workforce worked in business, construction, and other support services.

Employment rates in Canada

The youth employment rate, which includes those between the ages of 15 and 24, increased by 1.2%. As of October 2024, the employment rate for young males increased by 1.8%.

Business, construction, and other services have the greatest employment rates, with a 4.2% increase in October 2024. The employment rate in administrative and waste management services increased by 4.8% annually.
