EU nations seek to support the travel and tourism sector.
To ease immigration and support the travel and hospitality industries, European nations have been developing and enacting new visa regulations. New visas have been introduced by Portugal, France, and Germany for qualified professionals who wish to relocate and work overseas.
Simplifying the immigration procedure for talented professionals and meeting the demands of the labor market are the goals of the new visas and revised visa regulations. Some of the newest visas introduced by European nations to entice educated foreign workers are France's new Talent passport visa, Portugal's seasonal and long-term visas, and Germany's Opportunity Card.
France Talent Passport Visa
The Talent Passport Visa is a part of the EU Blue Card and can be used as an extended France residence permit by skilled professionals having an employment contract for more than one year. The minimum salary requirement to be eligible for this visa is 1.5 times the average gross income in France, which is approximately €35,891 per year.
Germany Opportunity Card
On June 01, 2024, Germany introduced the Opportunity Card to welcome skilled non-EU professionals to migrate to Germany and look for employment opportunities there.
Portugal’s Seasonal and Long-Term Visa Options
Portugal has launched short-term, seasonal and long term visa options to address the labor market requirements in the country. While seasonal visas aim to support the tourism industry, long-term visas allow professionals to work in Portugal for nine months to up to two years.
