Applications for work-based residency permits in Finland in 2024
More than 12,000 work licenses were obtained in the first nine months of 2024, according to a recent Schengen News article from the Finnish government. Compared to the previous five years, the number of applications for work-based residency permits has continued to rise.
12,498 applications for work-based residency permits were submitted to the Finnish Immigration Service. Most of the candidates were from China, Vietnam, India, Thailand, and the Philippines.

International students in the nation became more interested in applying for residence permits in Finland. In the first nine months of 2024, around 11,749 foreign students filed for the Finland Residence Permit, a 9% rise above 2023 numbers.
The majority of applications for residence permits were from Indian, Bangladeshi, and Nepalese students who wanted to study in Finland. International students' applications for residence permits must be handled in an average of nine days.
