Around 11,050 foreigners obtained Austrian citizenship between January and June of the first half of 2024, according to recent figures from Statistics Austria. Compared to the same period the previous year, there was a 66% rise in the number of naturalized citizens.
Approximately 6,658 immigrants who became citizens of Austria did so as temporary residents. According to reports, 8,256 persons were naturalized based just on their entitlements, whereas 3244 people lived in Austria for at least six years.
About 261 naturalized citizens have been residing in Austria for more than 15 years, while about 393 Austrian citizens obtained their citizenship by marriage. About 2189 persons obtained citizenship by extension in the first half of 2024.
