The EU Blue Card: What is it?
For talented non-EU nationals who wish to live and work in Germany or any other European Union country, there is a sort of residency permit called the EU Blue Card. For a maximum of four years, EU Blue Card holders are permitted to live and work in any EU nation.
In an effort to draw in highly qualified foreign workers, particularly from India, Germany recently modified the EU Blue Card regulations. For Indian IT talent, especially new grads and IT professionals without a university degree, the revised regulations will present a fantastic opportunity.
In 2025, the EU Blue Card Policy will undergo significant modifications.
Key modifications to the EU Blue Card scheme that will take effect in 2025 include the following:
Reduced wage Requirements: EU Blue Card applicants will now be required to make at least €45,300 per year, which is 1.5 times the average wage in Germany. For jobs that are in high demand, the minimum wage will be reduced even more to €41,041.80.
Extended list of eligible professions: Germany has extended the list of jobs that qualify for the EU Blue Card program since skilled workers are needed in a variety of industrial sectors.
Welcome to recent graduates: If they fulfill the income requirements, recent graduates of universities, especially those who graduated within the last three years, will also be eligible for an EU Blue Card in Germany.
